Teaching Government in Third Grade

Teaching Government in Third Grade

Teaching Government in the Third Grade is often a complex concept for students. The branches and levels of government can be confusing. Also, students at this age often do not understand the difference between city, state and country. One thing I do is to try to use visuals as much as possible with our interactive notebooks. We use our notebooks to refer back to often. I have a fantastic free resource for your students to use in their interactive notebooks to help with the Branches of the Government. One of the BEST resources in teaching government is Ben’s Guide to the US Government. Students will love exploring about the government and playing the games.
